Oh boy. Did I mention it’s past 2am? Billie Joe damn your sweet voice. And the sweet melodies. I need sleep.

No, really.

Because today I saw on TV a short version of this ad starring James Franco. And I was, like, “OMG! OMG!!!”

I bought myself a red iPod nano (16Gb, even though I’ll never fill it all), and 2 new albums and am enjoying myself immensely. Furthermore, I am in the middle of reading 3 books – the new one I’m reading is Annie’s Box, a story about Charles Darwin and his family, and it’s already made me cry twice. And I’m re-reading a couple of old favourites.

It’s strange how enjoyable these simple things can be. I think I’ve been deprived for too long

On the up side, I have heard some bits and pieces about what has been happening in the outside world.

One thing I am excited about is Paul Bettany’s new film, Creation, where he gets to play Charles Darwin. It’s still not confirmed, and from past experience, they could decide to drop the cast/production/whatever at any time. But if it does happen, my inner geekgirl and fangirl can become one and rejoice in pure excitement

What else? How tempted am I to get one of those shiny new iPod nanos, or maybe an iPhone. How eager I am for Supernatural to return. How cool is Google Street View in Sydney! How crazy has our weather been. How disappointed and sad I was to hear of Mark Priestley’s death. How freaked out is the world getting about its impending financial doom. Etcetera.

I didn’t really have much to say. I think I’ll duck back into the cave now.

I just received an email from myself today. It was sent by me, to myself, on 14 May 2005, using FutureMe.org. That’s more than 3 years ago.

And you know what? Nothing’s changed. My past self asked my present self a small handful of questions. Here’s a sample:

Am I still in the same job? Yes. More responsibility and longer hours now, but still the same job.

Am I still a fan of Paul Bettany? Yes. Oh yes. How could I not be?

Have I found the man of my dreams? No. NO!

The last sentence in the time capsule was “And get up off your lazy bum, do something creative, if you haven’t already.” Well. It appears I am still reclining on my lazy rear end.

Nothing’s changed. Since 3 years ago. *sigh*

Whether or not they will actually arrest people for wearing offensive t-shirts or handing out condoms to pilgrims, I don’t know. But the notion of having this kind of regulation in place really pisses me off. I thought Australia valued freedom of speech. Since when did that get thrown out the window?

If I had the power the NSW police now have, I’d probably demonstrate my anger at this stupid law, by arresting all the “annoying” pilgrims who are going to clog up our city’s transport systems for the week. Hell, I’d arrest the neighbour next door as well, for “disturbing” my sleep on Sunday mornings. It sounds stupid, and that’s because it bloody well is. I wish our government would spend their effort on improving our country, not making it worse.

The device will cost $699, which I think is reasonable – but I’m not going to be the first in line at Harvey Norman to buy one when it launches on July 29. Very tempting though! It would be interesting to see whether Foxtel’s going to drop their prices as a result of this new competition.

We should be seeing Simon Baker in The Mentalist in a few months, and I’m looking forward to it. It looks like a role where he’ll get to wear lots of suits and sound clever, which I have no doubt he’ll do very well. Plus, it’s already got rave reviews on the pilot episode.

And I’m now watching House starting from Season 1, both because Hugh Laurie rocks, and also because Jesse Spencer’s just so damn pretty.

On the bright side, I am thoroughly enjoying my new 50″ plasma TV (when I have the time to watch it). And I managed to drop by the new Sydney Apple Store last weekend, and was very impressed. I am an uber geek.
